| Aerosystems International is named as a key Player on Apache BOWMAN Connectivity Programme. |
|
AgustaWestland has contracted Aerosystems International (AeI) to create the software solution known as BAMPS (BOWMAN Apache Mission Planning System) which, as part of the Apache BOWMAN Connectivity (ABC) programme, will enable airborne Apaches to exchange data messages with the BOWMAN network. Using BAMPS, the British Army will be able to incorporate real-time information into the BOWMAN Network from airborne Apaches using Improved Data Modem (IDM) and without aircraft modifications. As well as receiving automatic Apache position reporting, it enables the commanders on the ground to re-task the Apaches during flight and receive target, threat and situational awareness information, and carry out remote mission management and monitoring. Scott Roy, Managing Director of AeI, said: " The MoD challenged us some 2 years ago to demonstrate how an Apache would be networked quickly and cost effectively. Within 12 weeks we created a prototype system, which is the basis of the contract we have recently signed. Linking the Apaches into the BOWMAN Network is a major benefit to the British Army enabling the commanders to gain greater operational flexibility with one of their key assets and we are thrilled to be a key player in this programme." Aerosystems International is a leading company in the analysis,
design, development and delivery of complex, software intensive
systems for the aerospace and defence sectors. It also develops
cutting edge systems and smart technologies for various industrial
applications.
