| His Royal Highness The Duke of York Opens Aerosystems International's Alvington Technology Centre. |

Aerosystems International's prestigious new office, at Alvington, on the edge of Yeovil, was officially opened by His Royal Highness The Duke of York, CVO, ADC on Wednesday 13 February 2002. The facility replaces five other Yeovil
offices. It allows not only the relocation of existing staff
to a purpose built facility, but also facilities the company's
expansion in the area. Sir Julian Oswald, Chairman of Aerosystems International, said; " We are thrilled to have His Royal Highness The Duke of York, open our new facility in Yeovil. It is particularly appropriate given his operational service as a RN Helicopter pilot and his knowledge of aircraft. This marks the start of a new phase of development for the Company. From the Technology centre we plan develop into a £100 million business and continue to expanded our team of highly skilled staff" The technology centre is designed to accommodate 500 staff, with state of the art communications facilities, providing voice, video and Internet access. Sophisticated software test and integration laboratories have been designed which enable staff to develop the latest smart software engineering solutions. Staff and Customers use a spacious central atrium with integral Café and pleasant "Chill Out" areas for breaks and informal meetings. AeI was founded in 1985, with 15 staff. Today it has a total of 500 staff at six main sites UK and the United States - 400 of whom are currently based in Yeovil. AeI will be looking to recruit additional staff throughout the course of this year and next.
