Aerosystems International to play key role in Lockheed Martin Watchkeeper team.

Somerset based Aerosystems International Ltd (AeI) is providing key systems engineering and system integration services to the Lockheed Martin Watchkeeper team. The project will use unmanned air vehicles, equipped with all weather sensors, to gather imagery from behind enemy lines, and relay it to ground stations where any critical intelligence can be extracted.

AeI will build, manage and operate the Software Integration Facility (SIF), bringing together a variety of software components and integrating them into a coherent system. As part of this activity, AeI will provide the 'glue' software that allows the end user to operate the Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Software packages as a unified whole.

Work has already started on the software architecture and in designing the Software Integration Facility (SIF). Early in the System Integration Assessment Phase (SIAP) the SIF will be built at AeI in Yeovil to support integration and testing of the Lockheed Martin Watchkeeper solution.

Aerosystems International is a leading company in the analysis, design, development and delivery of complex, software intensive systems for the aerospace industry. It also develops cutting edge systems and smart technologies for various industrial applications. AeI was founded in 1985, with 15 staff. Today it has a total of 500 in the UK and the United States.

"On behalf of the entire Boeing C-17 team, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our efforts in securing the lease of four aircraft to the Royal Air Force(RAF). This is a significant victory, made possible in large part because of your work on our behalf, and we believe it paves the way for additional such programs in other countries. It is the benchmark and our collective performance will be watched closely around the world."
