Press Release

30th March 2001

Sir John Chisholm opens Turing House for Aerosystems International.

Aerosystems International has expanded into a prestigious new office, Turing House, on Enigma Business Park Malvern. The building was officially opened by Sir John Chisholm MA FREng, Chief Executive Officer of DERA on 28th March 2001.

The premises have replaced two houses that were used as offices by AeI, a company that develops smart technology for the aerospace industry. It allows not only the relocation of existing staff to a purpose built facility, but also the opportunity to create more jobs in the area by expanding the Malvern team.

Scott Roy Managing Director of Aerosystems International said, " We are thrilled to have Sir John Chisholm open our new facility in Malvern. This marks the start of an exciting chapter for Aerosystems International in the local area, as we expand our team of highly skilled staff"

The new facility holds up to 60 staff. On the ground floor there is a well-furnished rig room that can cater for all forms of software intensive systems and associated rigs and there is also an impressive Vehicle Systems Integration Lab facility, for the mobile capability.

The first floor is predominantly open plan with a number of design review rooms and a large conference room, which has a panoramic view over the Malvern Hills. In addition there is a video conferencing unit to enable communications with customers, suppliers and other AeI locations.

AeI was founded in 1985, with 15 staff in Yeovil Somerset. Today it has 600 staff around the country, 34 of whom are currently based in Malvern. AeI will be looking to recruit additional staff throughout of the course of this year and next.

Note to Editors:

Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA.

"On behalf of the entire Boeing C-17 team, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our efforts in securing the lease of four aircraft to the Royal Air Force(RAF). This is a significant victory, made possible in large part because of your work on our behalf, and we believe it paves the way for additional such programs in other countries. It is the benchmark and our collective performance will be watched closely around the world."
