Press Release

19th March 2001

New AeI building taking shape.

Aerosystems International's new 50,000sq-ft (4,645 sq m) office, one of the first hi-tech offices of this size in the area, is taking shape at Alvington Lane, on the Western outskirts of Yeovil. The building's massive steel frame is erected; two thirds of the staircases fitted and the precast floors are in place. Warings - the construction group working on the project - has now started to put the roof on this state of art office facility.

The building is being constructed on a 3.5-acre site. The site was acquired by UK & European Investments from, amongst others, South Somerset District Council.

The company currently employs 300 staff in 5 offices in the Yeovil area and a further 300 staff in other locations around UK and USA. Once the build programme of 45 weeks is completed, the process of moving from all the AeI offices in Yeovil will begin.

AeI managing director Scott Roy visited the site recently and commented, "The building is taking shape and once completed will, I am sure, become a well known Yeovil landmark ensuring that AeI secures a place in the hearts and minds of staff, customers and suppliers

The state of the art building will provide a superb working environment that will foster communication and creativity. All staff will have access to the internet, email voice and video communications and the building will feature a "third place" with atrium and café facilities.

A model of the completed building with external finishes and colours is now on display in AeI's current HQ at Alvington.

James Brooke-Webb from UK & European Investments, comments: "We are delighted to be working with Aerosystems International to create a fitting and exciting new headquarters for this rapidly expanding company." UK & European Investments is the property investment and development arm of the Lewis Trust Group, one of the UK's largest privately owned companies.

"On behalf of the entire Boeing C-17 team, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our efforts in securing the lease of four aircraft to the Royal Air Force(RAF). This is a significant victory, made possible in large part because of your work on our behalf, and we believe it paves the way for additional such programs in other countries. It is the benchmark and our collective performance will be watched closely around the world."

Vice President-General Manager, Airlift & Tanker Programs, Boeing.
