Local Company Aerosystems International (AeI) Celebrates after the government announces that it is going to invest a further 1.3 billion pounds in the Joint Strike Fighter programme, projected as the biggest defence deal in history. Scott Roy Managing Director of AeI stated "We are really very encouraged at UK governments stand, it is a very positive testimony to the relationships, that the UK can make this substantial investment. For us it is really good news we have been working with Boeing for 3 years now on their variant of the Joint Strike Fighter. If Boeing is successful, it is a potential 20 million pound contract for us, over the next 3 to 4 years, which will significantly benefit the local community as well as AeI" Aerosystems International is participating with the BOEING company as a member of 'The One Team' to develop a revolutionary maintenance and logistic support solution for the Joint Strike Fighter. The One Team's approach draws heavily on Aerosystems's world class capabilities which have contributed to innovative systems in service with an International customer base supporting transport aircraft, fast jets, attack helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft. George Strohsahl Boeing's Director of Autonomic Logistics said " The Boeing One Team concept and plans could not have progressed this far without Aerosystems outstanding participation, we look forward to convincing our customer that One Team has the winning solution" Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA.
