| Charities benefit from Aerosystems International support. |
|
This year, staff from five AeI offices throughout the UK (Camberley, Malvern, Warton, York and Yeovil) were asked to nominate favourite charities. From a list of ten charities, staff were then asked to select three. The three selected charities that staff nominated are: Macmillan Cancer Relief which funds specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors, buildings for cancer treatment and care, and grants for patients in financial difficulties - services which help make the lives of cancer patients easier, and reduce unnecessary levels of fear. St Margaret's Somerset Hospice, an independent charity which currently supports the only hospice in Somerset, and provides essential medical and nursing care for the terminally ill by using 16 beds at its Taunton based hospice as well as home visits and support. All donations go towards funding these services, which cost £2.8m per year and the charity is likely to be getting a project for a Yeovil hospice underway in the New Year. Child Victims of Crime, which was established in 1993 following the Warrington bombings, is administered by serving and retired police officers who are members of the British Police Rugby Section. To date, over 600 victims, up to the age of 17 years, have benefited directly, whilst over three million school children have received copies of the Educational Safety Publications produced for the charity by the Access Partnership from Stockport, Cheshire. David Ainge, Appeals Co-ordinator for Child Victims of Crime says: "To be selected by company employees as a recipient of the donation is truly fantastic. The benefit to the schools receiving the publications will, I am sure, benefit the children immediately and society in general in the future." Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA. Three
charities will benefit from donations totalling £4,500 from
Aerosystems International (AeI), a hi-tech company that develops
smart technology for the aerospace industry. This will be
the second year running that AeI has decided to donate to
charity rather than sending Christmas cards to its customers
and suppliers.
