| Terrington Systems Launch new Data Collection Software. |
|
York-based Terrington Systems a subsidiary of Aerosystems International, specialists in creative data solutions, have launched TransForm - a software program set to change the face of data collection. Paper based data collection has long been recognised as a major resource drain, yet every industry still has employees using paper based log sheets - whether it's for data logging, monitoring, inspection etc. The approach varies from 'back of a fag packet' to completing quality-controlled documents on a clipboard. Problems vary from the length of time it takes to enter the data to PC based software to legibility of handwriting.
Forms can be filed electronically 'Windows Style' or they can be calendar scheduled to instruct the users which log sheets should be completed and when. Forms can be completed via desktop PC or transferred to hand held PC for mobile data collection to capture and validate the data instantly. Operators are warned if the data entered is either incorrect or outside predetermined limits immediately, allowing any problems to be resolved without delay. Each log sheet is automatically time and date stamped with the user's name so information can be used for ISO 9000 Quality Assurance or regulatory (HSE or FDA) requirements. Mark Williams, Managing Director of Terrington Systems, comments "TransForm has been developed in response to customer demand. It is a user-friendly system that provides an end to paper based data collection and allows companies to resolve potential problems immediately". Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA.
