| Terrington attains new security standard. |
|
York-based Terrington Systems, specialist in creative data solutions, has been celebrating its attainment of the new British standard in Information Security Management - BS7799. This new British standard is designed for companies with a need to protect sensitive information from any source. BS7799 is the code of practice for Information Security Management and aims to allow compliant companies to demonstrate publicly their ability to safeguard confidentiality, integrity and availability of client information. Managing Director of Terrington, Mark Williams, comments: "Having a tightly configured security policy and information security management system is now generally regarded as good business practice and is reassuring to customers. In particular, it establishes the company's security credentials up front and, in a similar manner to ISO9001, publicly demonstrates the company's commitment to continued improvement in business practices." BS7799 is rapidly becoming the accepted standard by all sectors of industry, including the UK government. Mark continues: "Terrington Systems is proud to be one of the first companies to become BS7799 certified - an important accolade for a company already holding accreditation for ISO9001." Terrington Systems, a subsidiary of Aerosystems International Ltd, specialises in total asset management solutions including on-line condition monitoring and calibration of assets. Asset tracking is provided through the use of RFID tags and/or barcodes, hand held data loggers and multi media readers, and Terrington has particular experience of providing solutions for use in hazardous and explosive environments. Integrated data capture and analysis solutions for trials, equipment evaluation and health monitoring of jet aircraft, sea and ground transportation vehicles is another speciality of Terrington Systems. The company also provides a bespoke systems design consultancy that gives low cost of ownership solutions for the collection, management and analysis of data to deliver fast effective asset management information. Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA.
