| Aerosystems International expertise gives JSF intelligent planning and decision support. |
|
Aerosystems International is participating
with The Boeing Company as a member of the Boeing Joint Strike
Fighter 'OneTeam' to develop a revolutionary maintenance
and logistics support solution for the JSF. The One Team's approach draws heavily on Aerosystems's world class capabilities which have contributed to innovative systems in service with an International customer base supporting transport aircraft, fast jets, attack helicopters and maritime patrol aircraft. Aerosystems is finalising plans with Boeing for the 'EMD' (Engineering & Manufacturing development) phase of the program intended to commence in 2001. The Joint Distributed Information System (JDIS), central to the JSF solution is advanced information technology that provides decision support and intelligent planning. This is achieved through the integration of planning, training and support systems networking between the aircraft and logistics infrastructure. JDIS is the most technologically advanced aircraft logistic support system. It is essential to allow the new Joint Strike Fighter to be operated affordably by international users. The Boeing team, including AeI, is well equipped to meet these challenges having an outstanding track record for in Aircraft Systems development and Commercial aircraft support. The project calls on expertise from support solutions and Terrington systems divisions of Aerosystems International co-ordinated through our US subsidiary, AeI Inc, ensuring Boeing receives a consistently high quality of service. "George Strohsahl, Boeing Director of JSF Autonomic Logistics, said, "The Boeing JSF One Team concept and plans could not have progressed this far without Aerosystems outstanding participation, we look forward to convincing our customer that One Team has the winning solution" Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA.
