| Aerosystems International delivers Apache Attack Helicopter – Mission Planning System. |
|
Aerosystems International (AeI) has delivered the first Apache attack helicopter mission planning system to Boeing Helicopter’s facility in Mesa, Arizona as part of the UK WAH 64 Attack Helicopter programme. The Mission Planning system provides Apache pilots and battlefield commanders with a powerful suite of tools to plan single or multiple aircraft missions. A three dimensional terrain model coupled with a computerised model of the Apache helicopter and its weapon systems enable crews to plan mission feasibility, terrain cover, threats etc before loading the data into a specially designed data module for transfer into the aircraft. The system has been ruggedised for operation in the battlefield. Scott Roy, Aerosystems Managing Director said, “delivery of the first Apache MPS on time and to budget underlines our capability to create innovative solutions. The MPS will be a key component linking the awesome fighting capability of the Apache with the digital battlefield in the 21st century. Note to Editors: Aerosystems International, jointly owned by GKN Aerospace and BAE SYSTEMS, was formed in 1985 for the sole purpose of developing aerospace systems and software, combining the avionics and systems expertise of GKN Westland with the software and project management skills of BAeSEMA. AeI is under contract to GKN WHL for developing the WAH64 Ground Support System. For further information please contact: Emma
